Cant send email from within software installed as Remote app.

Hi ,

We are using our company software Dispatch mate on server and users on remote sites are using the application as REMOTE APP windows server program not the remote desktop. The software has the feature where users can send emails from within software.

There are two ways to do it, either we setup an smtp server settings in software or we tell software to open outlook on local computer and send email.

We tried using smtp server settings for office 365 but getting wsaeconnaborted error. The test to smtp is successful but while sending email we are getting that error. Firewall is also disable on users PC

when we are trying to use outlook option. It saying " no email program is associated with the application" although outlook app is installed on local PC and set as default mail app. DO we need to install Outlook application on server?

if someone  experienced  this sort of issue?

Windows 10 - Remote Web App Display - Windows Distorted after Dragging and/or Maximizing

Last week, we retired our Remote Desktop 2012R2 system and launched Remote Desktop 2016 hosting Office 2016 on RDSH 2016 servers.  We have several hundred clients running a variety of systems including IOS, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 Professional.

A few days after launch, some of our Windows 10 users issued complaints that maximizing, resizing and moving around Remote Web App windows causes all types of distortion including a disappearing window that cannot be maximized again and issues where only a small portion of the full window is displayed.

A sample is shown below where portions of Excel 2016 are cut off in a remote web app session on Windows 10 Pro, version 1803.

We have combed the internet for a fix.  We've tried updating display drivers, Docking Port drivers, updating Windows 10 Pro from version 1709 to 1803.  We've tried unchecking 'use Bitmap cache' in the RD Client.  We've adjusted display resolution, all without any luck.  None of these users have a dual monitor setup.

The issue has cropped up on docked/undocked Dell Latitude laptops.

Hi,

our workstations with Windows 10 pro are in this weekend updated to version 1803. For main system we use RemoteAPP aplications on Windows server 2012R2 (Windows server 2012R2 is full updated). After update on client station are RemoteAPP slower, and  right mouse button is unresponsive, or react verly long time...

It is a big problem for us.

PS: after replace mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll from older version Windows 10 is all OK. but this is not a solution.

Thanks.

Server 2012 R2 RDSH User profile disks, exclude temp directories

Hi,

As per this Google bug page: here

We cannot use the legacy browser extension in our session host environment.

It seems the work around is to exclude the temp and tmp directories of a user profile, from their user profile disk.

Can someone advise the appropriate syntax to use in the Remote Desktop deployment properties section of server manager to exclude these folders? Everything I have tried thus far has not worked, and my only working way of doing this is to change their environment variables at login via a script deployed using group policy. This is not ideal, as this does not complete before the user's session is initialised, meaning it is not effective until their second login.

Excluding the folder via deployment properties would be far neater, and more effective from the get go.

Thanks

Microsoft Remote Apps kicking out credentials

We are looking for a solution to save the credentials on our clients machines for the microsoft remote apps so that they dont have to enter the name and passwords to connect to the remote apps much like rdp will keep the credentials saved for them.  We find that for some users it will periodically kick out the credentials most of the time just the password and we will have to redo the webfeed to save the credentials on their machine again which could last a few days before being kicked out again.  The apps are hosted on a Server 2016 machine on a domain and the clients are connecting from non domain machines to run the apps.

Broker issue

Hello,

I've got an issue with session disconnection.

My environment is following :

- 1 broker server 2012 R2

- 5 RDS Server 2012 R2

- VDI client

When a user connect with rdp script , the request go to the broker and the connection is established on a RDS server.

My problem is sometimes when a user connect from another computer , the session already connected don't turn off and they have two simultaneous connection on two computer.

I searched in the event viewer and i can see that the broker receive the request and redirect to a RDS server.

When i try to open the session on another computer , the broker don't detect the first connexion and establish an another connection with a different ID instead of turn off the session and redirect the other computer.

It doesn't work since start of October, may be a KB update ?..

Hello,

I just created new 2016 RDS Session Base environment where I have two servers.  1st Server has  RDS Web Services, RDS Gateway, and RDS License Role and 2nd Server has RDS Session and RDS Broker role.  I have configured the way I want it and created DNS Alias for server 1 which is the gateway server rds.domain.com and I have all the configuration setup correctly but I don't seem to get connected RDS Sessions/Broker server when I type in the rds.domain.com. It logs into server number 1 instead of server number 1.  I don't know if I am setting this up wrong or I need the broker and gateway role on same server? any help would be appreciated.

Thank You

unexpected server authentication certificate error

Things were working fine until we needed to renew SSL cert using wildcard cert. After updating cert in all appropriate places we still get error when clicking on shared app. The farm is 1 session host, 1 gateway, 1 web access and 1 Connection broker.  Error is Your session has ended because an unexpected server authentication certificate was received from the remote PC. It references server name of our Connection Broker with SHA1 thumbprint. This happen regardless of what OS is connecting in. I've tried from MAC and windows 7. I see event id 6041 lsa in gateway. credssp auth to termsrv/connection broker failed to negotiate a common protocol version. Not sure if it's directly related to our troubles? Any assistance is appreciated?

RDS 2016, RDCB HA pair. can only connect to one node using /admin

Hi,

Can anyone give me a steer on something please?

I have 2 server 2016 servers both with RDSH, RDWeb and RDCB installed, RDCB is in HA. RD Licencing is on a separate server.

I can only connect to one server via RDWeb or mstsc.  The other i can only access using 'mstsc /admin'.  This is obviously an issue via RDWeb.

It affects connections to the RDCB directly, if i fail to the other RDCB then the issue moves to that server.

<o:p></o:p>

This is not a problem for admins but it happens via RDWeb also.

2012 Recreate collection of VMs fails, Post-patch failed

Windows 10 VMs - I created a new Win 10 2016 LTSB (1607) template from scratch, applied all updates, sysprepped - just like I would do with the previous template which was Win 10 ent 1804 (not LTSB). Anyway, when I execute "recreate all desktops in pool" and point to the new template, it takes a long time, then eventually fails. The first VM's status is Post-patch failed, all others are job canceled. I'm looking through the Hyper-V logs, but nothing jumps out at me. In fact, the only entry I see is for the one that Post-patch failed.

I've confirmed that the VM did export as a template.

Log: Microsoft Windows Hyper-V15 Worker/Admin

Event ID: 18510

'BASE-0' saved successfully. (Virtual machine ID 741112D6-0B23-4521-8C8F-7ECA9E144843)

Any idea where I should look to see what's happening?

Edit: I closed the wizard and then launched Task Status and now get a bit more information for the VM that Post-patch failed - "Failed: The virtual machine is not ready for the virtual machine-based desktop deployment."

My gut instinct is I can't downgrade win 10 VMs from 1804 to 1607, time to find out what google thinks.

Edit 2: Setup a new resource pool, pointed it at my new template, same errors.
Edit 3: Hyper-V-VMMS/Admin, Event ID: 15090 'BASE-0' failed to modify resources.

Edit 4: Hyper-V-VMMS/Storage Event IS 27002 (A whole lot of these) The description for Event ID 27002 from source Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS cannot be found.

User Profile Disks: Disk has the same disk identifiers as one or more disks connected to the system

Hello,

we have a Windows Server 2016 RDS session-based server with User Profile Disks enabled. If there is at least one user logged in, for every other user that connects to the server, a warning is added to the Event logs: "Disk <x> the same disk identifiers as one or more disks connected to the system". Aside from that, all seems to work fine, so should I be worried about these warnings?

Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Apps Single Sign-On Fails after 2018-07 Security Monthly Quality Rollup on Workstation

Dear Microsoft Support,
We found that the usage of RemoteApp was affected by the installation of KB4338818 on Windows 7 and KB4338825 or KB4338826 on Windows 10.

Windows 7
2018-07 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4338818)
2018-07 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x86-based Systems (KB4338818)

Windows 10
2018-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4338826)
2018-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4338825)

Before the captioned patch is deployed , the users can be able to run the remote app by the remote desktop protocol directly without requesting login (Single sign on enabled).
However, after the patch applied,  it seems the ‘single sign-on” feature is somehow disabled and appear the below screen . The users require to enter the domain login credential again to use the remote app.

When using RemoteApps on TS, it Request Login again after 2018-07 applying Security Monthly Rollup

We tested to uninstall above mentioned Rollup, after removal of patch, the RemoteApps won't request Login again.

Platform of the Remote application Server : Windows 2008 R2 , RemoteApp Manager ver 6.1

Would you please investigate and provide the resolution on this issue ? Thanks.

regards,

Bruce

Issue on Windows10 Pro as RDP listener - internal error occurred

$

Hello,

I want to report one issue that is easy to reproduce, it occurs with any rdp client that connects to Windows10 Pro with enabled RDP connections, actually used mstsc.exe to connect from one Windows10 pro machine to another Windows10 pro machine with enabled RDP.

After ~100 tries to restore interrupted connection the server refuses future rdp connection tries with internal error occurred message reported by mstsc.exe.

It doesn't matter if you have logged off the session during running, as example did 20 connection restorings then logged off, logged in and did next 80 connection restorings, that was only example, only what matters is that you have only to restore any interrupted session at least ~100 times to send server to nirvana. As example after WiFi lost connection or during any network problem that requires rdp connection restoring. Only what helps to restore functionality is to restart remote desktop service in services.msc

I highly assume by restoring connection with reconnection cookie the bug counter counts up and by reaching 100 (the counter seems to be not reset by any action) so finally it completely stops to accept any future connections with internal error occurred message.

Such error doesn't exist on Windows2016 but Windows10 pro is affected.

More over few months ago this bug didn't exist on Windows10 too.

Please forward this issue to your RDP server developers, thank you!

Sincerely yours.

Redirecting a COM port grater than 32?

$

I'm using COM port redirection via RDP. If I assign a COM port number smaller than 32, redirection works fine. I log on to the server and access the device that is connected locally. However, if I assign a COM port greater than 32, I can't access the device from RDP. I get an error "The port COM100 does not exist".

So, is there some limit to RDP com port redirectoions?

Identical COM port number forwarded via RDP (different machines)

Hi all.

We're trying out our applications using RDP to access them. In order for this to work, clients must access the server via RDP. At the same time, using their RDP they are forwarding local COM ports (in order for some serial device to work).

As it is now, there are different local PC's that have the said device assinged to the same local port.  Example: PC1 has a device assigned to COM4, PC2 has another device assigned also to COM4.

Both of them are now using RDP to connect to a Windows Server and they are forwarding their ports.

Does Windows have any mechanism to differentiate read requests from those two devices? I know that on a local machine, two devices cannot occupy the same COM port...but I'm not sure how COM redirecting really works, in other words, will the example I gave you work without the two user PC's colliding.

If there's any additional info you may need, do let me know.

Thanks :)

RDP scaling not passed Windows 10 to Server 2012 R2

$

I have a Windows 10 client and a Server 2012R2 server. The client is set to 1920x1080 at 125%. In the past, whenever I connected via RDP, the session automatically went to 125%, regardless of the resolution (I sometimes use 1024x768, or other resolutions), just like it is supposed to. In the last few weeks, it has suddenly stopped doing this. I've tried different accounts, making sure I logged off the Server session (not just disconnected), changing the resolution and magnification on the client, and trying different Server 2012 R2 servers. Nothing works. I really don't want to do some of the manifest solutions that others talk about.

It is almost as if an update to either the server or the client has broken this.

Is there some way of diagnosing this? Is there a log of the connections, that would tell me what the client says it is, so I can see if the client isn't reporting the scale factor, or the server isn't paying attention?

Does anyone else have a suggestion, or is anyone else noticing this issue?

Thank you.

Server 2016, Remote app sessions intermittently connecting (protocol error "0x112f")

I'm using RDS/Remoteapp on generally windows 10 clients to fully patched server 2016 hosts.

I'm getting Disconnected due to a protocol error and it's sometimes fixed by rebooting the host. Each host has 8GB of ram and max one user at a time. Even after a reboot it'll often stop working a few minutes later.

Google seems to have no results on this platform and issue over RDS
