Hello ,

I have Six Session Host servers in RDS 2012 Farm and having problem with one Session host server that tmp profile created

For some users I have tried to Reset Profile from Registry and deleted profile .vhd for some users , But still they login to the same Session Host server which is having issue.

Is there any way that Particular user not login to one session host server

I have already tried :
1. Do not allow new Connection
2. Set relativity wight to 10 for session host server having issue.

Thanks

Replacement for vWorkspace/Provision?

We currently use Dell vWorkspace to publish internal applications to internal and external users, including our customers. The architecture includes web servers to publish the URL entry point, connection brokers to distribute RDP sessions and terminal servers to allow our users to RDP and run their published app(s).

The problem we have is that we are predominately running Solomon, which we can only get to run on Windows 2008 x86 terminal servers so implementing RDS is not an option as this only supports Windows 2008 R2 terminal servers.

Is there a solution to this considering we want to get rid of Windows 2003 Server?

Certificates for servers running Remote Desktop in admin mode only

Hi

We have all of our servers in the environment running Remote Desktop in Admin mode only.  By this I mean that I enabled Remote Desktop through the System Properties, I have not installed the Remote Desktop Services Role.

We have a CA in our environment so I want to do away with the self-signed cert that RDP uses.  Do I need to create an individual cert for every server in my environment in order to do this?  How are others dealing with this issue?

Thanks

Jason

hi

We have purchased 6VC-02071-  winRemDsktpSrvcs CAL 2012SNGL OLP NL DVCR CAL 5nos.

When we have purchased 2012r2 but downgrade to win 2008 r2 and activated.

I'm aware of the default 2 user limit. The issue is *on this server* when 2 people are already connected and a 3rd tries to         connect, instead of receiving a dialog box asking if they want to disconnect one of the other sessions, they get an error message that they are unable to connect.

When the CALS are activated  also it shows in – issued as 0

i try to RDP-TCP properties Network Adaptor tab it should be set to Unlimited connections but default it's disabled. when i change to maximum connection to 7 it's not apply.

Pls resolve this issue on High-priority.

Disk space consumed by printer drivers on RDS 2008 R2

Hi all,

I'm facing issue on several RDS servers : the folder that contains printer drivers is anormally big, I guess.

In fact, the folder C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64 is about 15 GB on one of our RDS server and about 30 GB on other server although these 2 servers are used by the same population with the same printers.

So what should I do in order to reduce disk usage of these folder without disturb users ?

Thank you.

Have a nice day.

Hi guys,

i have an issue with one of our deployed servers, some times we get a call saying that the performance is poor for word and excel. it takes up to 1 min to open, whether opening from start menu or by opening an existing document (size of the document is irrelevant<1MB - 10MB).

List of things I've ruled out/done

User load issues is irrelevant has happened with 5 users and happened with 30 users.

i'm sure its not resources:

2X E5-2650 @2.3GHz = total 40 cores
128GB of RAM
4X300GB 15K SAS HDD raid 5 + hotspare
have reinstalled office.

hardware acceleration for office graphics is disabled.

office is 2013 PP 32-bit

happens with files that are stored locally or over the network

DOSE NOT happen as admin

DOSE NOT happen when run in safemode

when the issues is happening it affects everyone

it starts and stops happening with no cause

if any can give me any advice or if you have any questions please let me know

RemoteApp not presented properly w/ Store App

Anyone know why the Windows Store "Microsoft Remote Desktop" application doesn't present RemoteApp applications properly?  Launching the app via the downloaded rdp file from the RD Web Access site functions as expected.  Launching an app via the Windows Store app presents the entire session with the single app.  Also, the folder structure isn't present in the Store App.

Windows Store App:

RDP File from RD Web Access site:

Windows Store App - Missing Folder Structure

Printing with Remote Desktop

I hope this is the right place this.

My setup:  I use 3 local computers connecting to a windows 8.1 pro computer.  For years I have used windows remote desktop, and I have printed to each local computer just fine.  All the printers from the local computers have been forwarded to the windows 8.1 computer (each session displaying the printers of the local computer).

The Problem:  Last week, I have been running into some problems.  Really weird problems.  My 1st local computer is windows XP and is still functioning correctly (yes I know there is no support), but everything works.  Printers are forwarded through Windows Remote Desktop to my WIN8.1, and they print.  My 2nd local computer was purchased with Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 10.  The local printers are not forwarded to the WIN8.1  The 3rd local computer was purchased with Windows 10 pre-installed.  Some days the printers forward to the WIN8.1 while other days it does not.  Can you help?

Direct Access

I'm trying to set up Direct Access on Server 2012 R2.

This used to be an existing DA Server which died so recreated it from scratch.

I'm having an issue where applying all the settings the configuration does not go successfully and keeps rolling back with the following errors.

(X) GPO ......\DirectAccess Server Settings is already used in an existing Direct Access Deployment. Use an alternate GPO name.

(X) Access denied.

So as stated before this was the old DA server which died and I had to recreate it.

Not sure what I am doing wrong, Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Changing default name of Easy Print Printers

Hello everyone I'm hoping someone has ran into the same issue as I have and found a solution. Maybe this is a quick answer. So far my searches have yielded nothing.

The issue I am running into is with 2012 R2 Easy Print printer names. We have an application that stores specific printing preferences inside the application and whenever a user logs back they end up getting a new printer name because Easy Print does printer naming like "Fax (redirected nn)."

In other products we used like TriCerat ScrewDrivers you can set the default naming up to use something other than the session number; such as "Fax (%username%)." However I can't find any equivalent setting for Easy Print. Has anyone ran into this issue and what have you done to resolve it; short of telling the user to just deal with it.

Thank you.

VDI licensing question

$

Hello there,

My organization is researching our options for a potential VDI project of about 300 computers.  Our current setup is that we have entirely virtualized our servers, so we would like to do the same for our desktops.  We use VMware for our servers and all of our hosts are running with Datacenter OS licensing.  Going forward we would like to utilize our existing desktop hardware to connect to a Virtual Desktop environment, most likely Citrix.  None of our existing desktops have SA, but they are all Windows 7 Pro, which is the OS we would like to virtualize if that matters.

So my primary question is what kind of VDA licensing do we need to acquire for this?  We get sort-of conflicting information from our vendors (Unidesk, Hypergrid, Citrix, etc.) as they don't seem fully aware of what licensing Microsoft requires.  Naturally we're trying to find something that is primarily the most budget friendly option since we are a smaller operation.

Thank you for your time.

Is it possible to display a hyper-v VM using a subset of the monitors of the system being used to connect to the VM ??

$

I am trying to configure a 911 dispatch console.  The dispatchers have one main application that they dispatch from and a bunch of peripheral applications that they use for support (think outlook, internet etc...).  We have had several instances where the peripheral applications have caused problems with the CAD (computer aided dispatch) software.  To prevent this, I am wanting to install a hyper-v virtual machine on the Windows 10 computer that is running the CAD software.  I will then load all the peripheral applications onto the virtual machine.

In order for the dispatchers to quickly see the information that they need, we have 6 displays connected to the physical computer via 2 NVidea NVS 510 video cards (3 monitors attached to each video card) which each contain 2GB of RAM..  We would like to have the virtual machine come up on two of those 6 and leave the other 4 for the CAD software.  However, I can run the virtual computer on all 6 monitors or only on 1, but not a subset of the 6.

I have added the RemoteFX 3D Video Adapter to the virtual machine and configured it with a maximum number of monitors = 2, set the max resolution to match the resolution of the monitors the VM will be displayed on and maxed out the memory.  When I attach to this VM with more than 2 monitors attached to the system I remotely connecting from, only one monitor is used to display the VM.  If I change the minimum number of monitors to the number of monitors attached to the computer I am remotely connecting from (6), the virtual machine comes up on all the displays as expected; however, this will not work as the dispatchers need to quickly see information on both the CAD software and the peripheral applications (VM system).

Can anyone confirm for me that this is a limitation of RDP/Hyper-V or if I have something configured incorrectly?  In other words, has anyone been successful in using RDP or another software (if so what) to connect to a virtual machine using a subset of the number of monitors on the system being used to access the VM?

I have tried simplifying the configuration, using only 1 video card, attaching 3 monitors, setting the max number of monitors for the VM to 2 and connecting.  This simplified configuration does the same thing… when connected via RDP or the Hyper-V manger, it only displays with one monitor. If I change the max number of monitors to 3, the VM will display on all 3 monitors.

As a side note, I have been testing with VirtualBox and I have been successful in getting this configuration to work but I would prefer to use Hyper-V for multiple reasons.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!/responses!

How do i connect to a loadbalanced RDS farm?

$

in my RDS deployment, I've got a connection broker and two session hosts.

The connection broker also has RDWeb roles installed, although I dont plan to use them.
I've configured the collection to loadbalance between the session host servers 50/50.

I can connect to each of the servers individually of course, however I can't seem to figure out how to connect to the farm and have my connection loadbalanced.

I read some documentation which said use round robin DNS, but this strikes me as being backwards as that would attempt to connect users to servers that were offline or otherwise unavailable etc.

It also occured to me that I could use NLB to do this, but again that seems silly when the RDS deployment clearly has some kind of mechanism for this built in; I mean it must have or why would it like me configure loadbalancing within the session collection?

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Hello,

Can I run TS in Azure and have users connect to it directly without using RD Gateway, Connection Broker? There are only 15 users.

Thanks,

RDWeb SSO - Kerberos

I have the follong setup

Internet -> WAP -> (Kerberos delegation) -> RDWeb

When using form-based (anonymouse) - after login the user can single-sign-on to the published RemoteApps or Computers.

When using windows integrated login (Alternativ login -> WAP -> Kerberos Delegation) - after delegation - the RDWeb page is shown correctly but when clicking a published Computer or RemoteApps - it (the RDP connection) asks for credentials?

Anyone know why?

Thanks

On a Windows 2008 R2 workgroup server, no domain involved, get this error every few days, no one can log in to Remote Desktop, get the Waiting For Group Policy Client error, there are NO custom Group Policies either:

Faulting application name: svchost.exe_SessionEnv, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bc3c1
Faulting module name: TSVIPSrv.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7ca09

Anyone know of a fix?

Thanks in advance!

No input from redirected RemoteFX USB device (Symbol Barcode Scanner)

$

Hi,

We have set up redirection of a USB Symbol barcode scanner to a Remote Desktop and a RemoteApp using RemoteFx. Thus when connected to the remote desktop, the USB barcode scanner appears as a USB HID device and HID keyboard device in the Device Manager on the server and as a device in "Devices and Printers". Similarly the device appears as "redirected" in "Devices and Printers" on the client and it is no longer available as a device on the client.

However, when scanning a barcode with the device, not data (string/characters) appears on the server - for example when testing with Notepad.

Are we missing any vital permissions/grants/registry values, etc. on either the server-side or the client-side in order for the barcode readings to be passed on to the Remote Desktop?

It should be noted that when not using RemoteFx, the scanned barcodes are transferred to the server as any other standard keyboard input. However, then the device is not available as "device" on the server or excluded from use on the client.
