Hello All,
I am suddenly having this issue occur. To preface the pc's are fully updated and this problem did not occur after the last applied updates.
I am on a win 10 pro desktop I use Netgear vpn client to create a vpn tunnel to my office network.
From there I open a rdp connectio to a pc at the office once I log in a security alert message displays on the remote pc desktop. I click OK and continue working but I want to know why this is occurring on every remote pc I log into I am assuming something on my pc has changed because this behavior occurs on all the networks I connect to.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Hi.
We have a problem with our RDS 2012 R2 farm. We are using IP virtualization and we have recently found out that the IP addresses are no longer being recycled i.e. the first user gets IP x.x.x.1, second user gets IP x.x.x.2, first user logs out but the third user gets IP x.x.x.3 even though IP x.x.x.1 is now free. This continues until x.x.x.254 and then the server runs out of IP addresses even though there are only 1 logged on user (and no disconnects). Do you know it there is a fix for this problem?
Hello,
I set up an RDP farm with Broker. We are running server 2008 R2.
I tried to make a SAN cert in our Enterprise CA but every time I adopt the cert for the RDP connection it still says Certificate Mismatch. It shows the server name on the RDP Cert and not the farm name.
https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/isablog/2011/10/09/how-to-generate-a-certificate-with-subject-alternative-names-san/
This is the article I used. Has anyone else had this problem before?
Thanks,
Jason

It seems that I am unable to connect to a computer on my network with the Remote Desktop App (trusted Windows Store App on my Windows Laptop or from the iOS App store on my iPhone), while I am able to connect successfully to it from Remote Desktop Connection (old Windows app).
The remote computer is joined to Azure AD (Windows 10 Pro, up to date; again, this works from the old Remote Desktop Connection application on Windows).
Can anyone tell me if connection to a machine joined to Azure AD is supported on the Remote Desktop App or if there is something I need to do to configure it properly?
Thanks.

I have a server with Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. When I try to reach it from another computer over remote desktop connection, I frequently get error "Remote desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons..."
The weird thing is that the message does not always pop up. And if it pops up and I keep retrying instantly, I eventually get through... Even more weird is that it mostly does not work in the morning... In the afternoon the connection mostly succeeds at first attempt.
I have no idea about the root case. It does not matter if I use the computer name or the IP-address. Same issue turns up on other computers from which I try to connect to that specific server. The server does respond on PING-command.
Does someone knows the root cause of this issue and a permanent fix?
Regards
Ino
Hi all,
putting together a HA RDS farm design - and im having trouble finding guidance on sizing for RD Connection brokers, RD Web and RD Gateway servers.
I get the for the session hosts, it is very dependant on what is running within the sessions and hence, the lack of hardware sizing guidance.
For the other roles it would be nice to have some sort of general advice - i.e. 1 connection broker per 1000 users, 1 RDGateway per 200 users etc....
Does anyone know if sizing guidance such as this exists? (and I just haven't been able to find it)
Some admins in our IT group have been attempting to set-up RDS (incl RDG) on Windows Server 2016. It works in most scenarios:
I've also verified smartcard auth to a server directly (not with a remote desktop gateway). For some reason, I'm unable to passthrough my smartcard to a server when using a remote desktop gateway. It simply comes back with "login failed" on the client. The "login failed" message appears as an error during the hop to the gateway server (i.e. it doesn't seem to even try to connect to the destination server).
On the RDG server, there are two error events generated:
I'm not sure why a smartcard would work in one situation but result in Unknown user name or password in another. Any ideas on where to start?
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for some guidance on how to disable SSL 3 and TLS 1.0 on a 2012 R2 box acting as a RD Gateway, Connection Broker & Licensing Server. I have disabled SSL V2 successfully via IIS Crypto. When I disable SSL V3 though my Remote Apps stop working - specifically the connection to the remote desktop host server fails. I didn't try disabling TLS 1.0 yet, as I haven't conquered SSL3. We are using a 3rd party signed SSL cert.
Any have specific experience doing this?
Hello,
We are currently using office 2010 on server 2012 r2 demote desktop
Any time someone tries to open an attachment from inside outlook they get a file corrupted error, but if they are in the office, using outlook and try to open the same attachment it works. This includes administrators on remote desktop
On top of this users are unable to open some files in remote desktop, either excel or word, but when in the office and using their own computer all files open correctly.
We recently moved our remote desktop to a different, more powerful/better server and everything was set up the same in terms of the remote services, but this server does have a couple of additional services running that weren't on the old one.
Any ideas, everything I have found here before has had no affect on this problem.
Thanks
Hi,
We are using remote desktop session host. the operating system is windows server 2016. Recently several user complain that their printer gone automatically. the printer installed on the printer server. we connected to printer through\\servername\printername.
on the event viewer. Applications and services----->Microsoft----->windows---->print service_
there have some error message like the following:
1. the default printer was changed to \\serveranme\printer name . see the vent user data for context information
2.\\servername\printer name initialization failed at \\servername\print$\BID\HPBOID.dll. Error 3. The system can not find the path specified occur because of system instability or a lack of system resources
3. Settings for printer.... were changed. No user action is required.
Anyone what is the problem of this
Looking forward for your feedback

Hi,
When I'm trying to deploy RemoteApp and Desktop Connections through GPO, it works but then it fails to update.
Start-Process -FilePath rundll32.exe -ArgumentList 'tsworkspace,WorkspaceSilentSetup', "\\shares\feed.wcx" -NoNewWindow -Wait
the Feed.wcx file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?><workspace name="Enterprise Remote Access" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ts/2008/09/tswcx" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"><defaultFeed url="https://remote.domain.com/RDWeb/Feed/webfeed.aspx" /></workspace>
Applying the previous works perfectly for the first time, but when I update the connection from Task Scheduler it fails with the following error in event viewer:
Now, when I manually add the connection in control panel, the update task works normally without any issues.
Do you have any idea why silently deploying the connection causes an issue with the update task?
Thanks in advance,
Housam Smadi,

Hi!
Quite a strange question ...
It is necessary on RD Gateway to check the computer name for correspondence in advance known.(Or any other marker, the easiest to install on third-party PCs and tablets)
If there are no problems with domain machines (On the NPS simply specify the rule in the CAP with the domain group of the PC), then with non-domain machines the problem.
Ships on logs, they send the following information about themselves:
Client Machine: Security ID: NULL SID Account Name: Notebook Fully Qualified Account Name: - Called Station Identifier: UserAuthType:PW Calling Station Identifier: -
As an example of logs with the connection of a domain machine:
Client Machine: Security ID: Domain\pc1$ Account Name: pc1.Domain Fully Qualified Account Name: Domain\pc1$ Called Station Identifier: UserAuthType:PW Calling Station Identifier:Actually check on Account name somehow it is possible?
Hi there,
I'm using Server 2016 and have built two Remote Desktop Services Servers. I just was using the temporary grace period license and I was able to see my users through the RD License Manager.
I then added User CAL's to the RD License Server. I made a mistake and returned these CALs and reborrowed them again from Clearinghouse. Now the license server shows 60 CALs available and none issued. It seems that all the users can log in and there are no issues from that end, but I want to be able to keep track of the CALs.
When I do an export of the report it says no CALs issued. I tried to:
- Return the licenses
- Disable the RD License Server
- Remove the RD License Role
- Reboot
- Add Role
- Enable RD License Server
- Get license
and I run into the same issue. I was hoping that I did not have to rebuilt the RDS role but I also don't want to run into the issue where somehow after a period of time (coinciding with the grace period) that this system stops working.
I also tried Local Group Policy to specify the RD LIcense Server and the Per User CAL setting and that still doesn't show the issued CALs changing....
Any ideas??
Hi, I've a 2012 R2 server in cloud, due to costs fees the server is a DC and have a RDS role on it. About 20 RDS licenses installed. The server is working fine since about 1 year. Simple rdp sessions not Remoteapps.
Yesterday i find a message "grace period of rds ts 2008 licenses is expired"...there aren't 2008 licenses...it is a 2012...all is working actually but this message make me a bit in alarm...
have you had that problem before? have i to check something??
thank you.

Hi,
I'm running a self hostes Windows 2012 R2 Server with RDS at the Moment. Now I'am at the Point to migrate it to Windows Server 2016.
I Need to decide which Infrastructure I Need to use. I'd like to Change to a cloud Environment. If I use Azure I Need to Switch to RDS Services, AD and VPN - it seems very expensive. On further Research I read about RDmi which Looks like a smart solution.
Is there a date, when it will be public available? Or is there even a Beta / Preview program so that I can test, if this solution will fit all my Needs? Several anouncments said it will come in Q1 2018 - but I also read one, which said it will come in Q4 2018.
Where can I get more Information on the Release / Preview / Beta / ...
Thanks in advance!
