Windows 10 HiDPI and 2012R2

Hi There,

Running W10 (latest build), and when I use MSTSC to RDP to a 2012R2 server, the DPI scaling does not pass through. What's worse is that using the Zoom options causes the window size to change to one size and the zoom to change to double that and it does not show scroll bars, so its completely useless.

Unable to Add Session Host Servers to Collection

I have had a working Environment of 2012 r2 server and collections all of a sudden start to cause giving me errors with adding new servers to existing collections.

The GUI and Powershell error I am receiving is "Unable to retreive collection properties"

I have gone through numbers threads and fixes throughout this community and others and have hit a road block and need some more ideas.

My latest thread that I have looked through here. Lead me to running through the RDMSUI Tracing logs, and getting the same error notated here.

Component RdmsUI: Failed to fetch local DB connection string from server: <server running in VM (RDCB+RDLS)>.<domain>: System.Management.Automation.RemoteException: Property DBConnString does not exist at path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tssdis\Parameters.
at Microsoft.RemoteDesktopServices.Common.DeploymentModel.ExecutePowerShellScript(String serverName, String script, Object argumentList, Boolean isLocalhost)
   at Microsoft.RemoteDesktopServices.Common.DeploymentModel.IsHighAvailabilityConfigured(String managementServer)

Looking at the answers in that thread is no where near what my problem appears to be because my setup is basic.

1 Connection Broker Server

1 Gateway Manager Server

Currently 16 Session Host Servers each connected to various collections that I have created.

As I said, I have been able to until last week, been able to add and remove session host severs to and from collections without a problem, but now I am completely unable to unless I rip out the whole collection and do a full rebuild including all of the session host servers that are going to be in that collection on the initial setup.

RDS 2012 R2 Connection broker in perimeter network

I have  four server.

Two servers : in perimeter network

Two servers : In local network.

Server in local network are only RDS SH role installed

Two servers in  perimeter network has following roles installed :  RD CB , RD WEB and RD GW

Can be RDS CB be put on perimeter network ?

I have created HA RDS CB, give it a FQDN  CBFarm.domaine.com, and  when I try to connect to WEB App published  through RD WEB I get error  Server CBFarm.domaine.com, can not be found.

If I try to connect directly to RDS SH server through RDS GW, I get connected to without a problem. Same work if I try to connect to  from RD WEB  with function “Connect to a remote PC” but I detected, that is connected directly, despite setting up use RDS GW for local addresses in deployment properties. But these RDS SH servers are locally connectable through  port 3389.

There is another  info : Alll servers are in same domain that ands with .local.

Restricting Access to edit function of Adobe DC

I've recently installed Adobe DC on our Windows Server 2008 R2 terminal servers.  In past, to lock down the "writer" functionality, all we had to do was restrict access to the PDF Printer object using an AD group.  However, this version seems to allow anyone to edit pdf's.  Does anyone know how to restrict the edit function?

Remote Desktop Services Slow Response

When I navigate to Servers under Remote Desktop Services in server manager it takes a long time to populate. It states it is connecting to the connection broker.  When I am in the Collections RemoteApps, I can add new remoteapp programs but it takes a very long time to save a new app. When I use the Get-RDRemoteApp command in PowerShell with eleveate privileges, it takes a very long time to respond and just hangs there. I am not seeing any errors in the system logs.

Has anyone had this issue before or any insight on what could be the issue?

Starting a program from a \\tsclient drive is extremly slow in Windows Server 2012 R2

I use to map one of my RDP connection's client drives to a drive letter to start my favorite editor (and tools) from there. Using Windows Server 2008 the editor starts in about 5 seconds (size: ~ 6 MB).
With Windows Server 2012 R2 the start takes about 30 secs(!), while copying the editor's exe to the Windows Server 2012 R2's desktop (using cmd) and starting it from there takes only about 2 secs alltogether.

So far:
- Checked that FIPS is disabled => wasn't
- Tried with Offloading off/on => Nope.

Any suggestions?

Remote Desktop App - Error 0x207 or 0x607

Hi All,

I manage a Windows 2012 R2 Network, including Connection Broker, Session Hosts and Remote Apps virtual servers.

I've used the Remote Desktop app on my own Android phone, with no issues at all - Connects to the published gateway URL and I can login and access network.

We are looking to move the business onto Nokia handsets with MS operating system (currently on Blackberry), but not able to connect via the Remote Desktop app on the Nokia Lumia handset.

Setup, as per Android config and it brings up my Remote Apps and a Remote Desktop screen, so I know it can connect.

When I then select the Remote Desktop, it shows following process:

  1. Initiating Remote Connection
  2. Securing Remote Connection
  3. Certificate can't be verified - I choose Connect
    1. It is a digitally signed cert (DigiCert SHA2), but the PC name is different to the physical Connection Broker name (inherited domain name which was an old GOV project - can't publish it publicly)
  4. Initiating
  5. Establishing
  6. Securing
  7. Connection Error Most have been 0x207 but now getting 0x607

A bit baffled, as will work on Android (and iPad at home using the app). Assume MS use a different way to authenticate the connection?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks,

Darren.

I have created one Server Group and added in Builtin\Remote Desktop Users group and also allowed from group policy (Default domain and Default Domain Controller Policy)

Allow log on through Terminal Services :  Domain\Server.Team, BUILTIN\Remote Desktop Users

Result as below

1) Able to login all domain controller through RDP successfully

2) NOT able to login other windows servers (Non DCs) . Error msg (

The connection was denied because the user account is not authorized for remote login)

Want my team to login more than 500 server.  I do not want them to login server by local administrator account where i do not have control and track of event by name

I do not want them to use generic ID presently which has domain admin privileges.

Collection could not be created in server 2012

Hi all

I am trying to create a pooled collection from a master vm that has been sysprep'd and it has all the necessary access to the domain.

I get the following error."A new virtual desktop could not be created from the virtual desktop template. Verify that all the hyper-v servers in the deployment have the correct network configuration and available hardware resources, then try again."

At the moment it just a test case as i want to see if we can implement this solution to a specific location.

In this test case i am only trying to create 2 vm's for the collection. In a previous attempt i tested with 6 and it created the 1st vm but the rest failed to create. The deployment was created with the quick start roles.

The server in question has server 2012 datacenter installed.

I have a 2008 server and 2008 terminal server. There is a GoDaddy certificate on the 2008 server for mail.domain.com

This has worked over the last year but we just added 2 new programs to TS and I get a remote app error "your remote desktop connection failed because the remote computer cannot be authenticated" on the 2 new apps. The old apps work. when I remove an older app and add back in then it gets the error also. Any ideas?

RD Web Access

Hello,

I just upgraded my office of 25 remote users to 2012 r2 from server 2003. Can anyone tell me how I can access local files from the Rd Web remoteapp desktop.  They were using RDP and accessing the 2003 server and had a desktop with shortcuts, favs,  etc. I have the Rd Web setup by going to the website my domain. Com/RdWeb but can't figure out how to give them access to their files that were in their local profile.  I have setup the user profile disk and that appears to be working but can access there local profile files I copied over from.  The 2003 server.  Any help with this would be great because I am not an expert by any means.  Thanks in advance.

Errors installing the Remote Desktop Services Role - Server 2012 R2

I am trying to install Remote Desktop Services on a Server 2012 R2 and hitting a wall.

  1. There are no restarts pending on the machine. There are no pending updates on the machine and the pending restart registry key does not exist on the machine ("HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations")
  2. This machine is NOT a domain controller. It is a member server in the domain.
  3. This is a Hyper-V Machine and I am trying to do a session based deployment.
  4. I have tried to do a Quick Start deployment and also a Standard Deployment.

I am at a loss and also in a time crunch to get this done. Here is the ERROR I am getting:

Remote Desktop Services role services - Failed

WAN connection to RDS load balanced cluster fails at Initiating Remote Connection

$

I have 2 RDS (2012 R2) servers and am attempting to setup load balancing.

RDS1 is the GW, WEB, CB and Session Host
RDS2 is just a session host

Server manager -> remote desktop services overview appears to be indicating that all (but licensing) is setup properly.

I have certificates installed, all DNS records created.  The cluster appears to be configured properly (pending licensing).  When connecting internally, I am not running into any issues.  I have multiple test accounts that when connecting internally are randomly directed to 1 or the other session host for their session.

When attempting to connect from outside of the network (WAN), if the session is directed to RDS1, the connection is fine.  It appears that when the connection is being redirected to RDS2, the connection and authentication process is proceeding, I see"redirecting to..." then it will hang for a moment at "Initiating Connection" and then present the error: Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons:......

I am guessing this has something to do with my firewall rules, but I can't figure out exactly what needs to be done.

I have 3389 TCP forwarding form WAN -> RDS1 (connection broker and gateway)
I have 3391 UDP forwarding from WAN -> RDS1 (connection broker and gateway)
Do I need any rule allowing connectivity to RDS2, or is that supposed to be handled by the gateway/CB?
I have 2 deployments with this same issue, one through a Sonicwall and the other through a Watchguard.

Is this something other than the firewall rules?

I have the RD client set to automatically detect gateway settings.  I would like to not have to have all of our users specify this if possible.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
