RD Gateway server could not create tunnel.

The user "domain\user", on client computer "193.xxx.xxx.xxx", was not authorized to connect to the RD Gateway server because a tunnel could not be created. The authentication method attempted: "NTLM" and connection protocol"HTTP". The following error occurred: "2147965433".

Any ideas?

  • Clean install,
  • godaddy cert.
  • Windows 2012 R2 Standard
  • 1 Broker, 1 Gateway, 1 Host on the same server.
  • Client uses windows 10

When connecting via RDWEB, the login prompt is displayed. When logging in after clicking on the rdp file the mstsc connection window freezes for a brief second, then the pop up below appears: (google translated)

Your computer can not connect to the remote computer because the server Remote Desktop Gateway expected a different authentication method than the one used.

1 CAP, 1 RAP. Policy set to allow Domain Users, user is member of Domain User and Admins.

Also saw the following Warning:

RDPClient_SSL: An error was encountered when transitioning from TsSslStateDisconnected to TsSslStateDisconnected in response to 25 (error code 0x8000FFFF).

Hi,

How can we change the remote desktop web access URL in Windows 2016 so that the applications can work from the internet. We have already installed a third party certificate. When we are trying to use the below command

"Set-RDPublishedName "remote.ourdomain.com"

It says "The RD Connection Broker server is not configured for high availability".

We don't want to use HA now.

Thanks.

Windows 2019 RDS Licensing

I am looking at deploying around 8 Terminal  server across our offices. All offices are in the same domain and interconnected. At the central site I am looking at deploying the licensing server. Am I right in thinking that I can use 1 central licensing server to allot the licenses?

Next am I also right in thinking that RDS user cals are allotted to each specific user and cannot be reallocated to another user (So not concurrent users but specific named users) and the only way to release the license would be to remove them from the AD.

We would also be looking to run MS office on each Terminal server, How does the licensing work for this, so for example if I have an office with 5 TS users do I need to buy 5 Open licenses for office and 5 RDS user cals.  (we do not use Office 365) Or can I buy an open license for 40 copies of office and 40 RDS users?

RDS 2016 Problems

We have recently faced many problems with our infrastructure based on the rds 2016 system. The most common problems are:

  • login issues (when attempting to login, users are thrown back to the login screen)

  • problems with redirecting usb devices

  • connecting to CB in server manager takes a good few minutes.

How can I investigate what is the reason of this issue? Which logs and which CB / SQL / GW / WA servers are best to check? T hank you in advance for your response.

Migrate Server 2008 R2 Connection Broker RDS farm settings to Server 2016

Hi All,

I have a Server 2008 R2 server that is a RDS Licensing Server and Connection Broker to 5x 2008 R2 RDS Session Hosts.

I understand the key to migrating is move the Connection Broker role to Server 2016 first, then add the Server 2016 Session Hosts to the farm

However I cannot use High Availability cluster to add a Server 2016 Connection Broker as my 2008 R2 server is Standard Edition, which does not support Failover Clustering.

Can I extract the Connection Broker settings (farm name etc.) and import them into a new replacement Connection Broker running on Server 2016 so I have the same farm name?

Or is the only way, to create a new RDS farm, with a new name, on Server 2016 running the Connection Broker role and then move the 2008 R2 Session Hosts to this broker? But then off course I'll have to update all my thin clients with the new name.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

recently we want to move from redirect folders on our RDS enviroment to UPD.

We created new Collection, new RDSH. Everything works fine except that every time system create new folder for the user ex.

user.001

user.002

What's more we have in GPO rule to delete user folder on the server during logout. It wont happened.

I've searched Event log and every time i see errors like:

1533 - Windows cannot delete the profile directory C: \ Users \ Administrator.000.The cause of the error may be that the files in this directory are being used by another program.

20491 - Remote Desktop Services cannot disconnect the user disk for a user account with SID S-1-5-21-4205589905-739050087-1798985181-500.Error code: 0x91.38

I've found that in 2016 was a hotfix but we have updated system up 11.2019 year and problem still exists

What can we do?

Can anyone give me any tips or guide about Remote App memory and CPU usage? I plan to implement a Remote App infrastructure that is mostly comprised of basic Office apps (Word, Excel) and Server Manager. Those would be accessed by max 5 people.

Using Group Policy Editor, I have added Administrators into Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment\Deny access to this computer from the network. This is to make sure that file sharing users cannot bypass the NTFS rights. However, I want members of the Administrators group to be able to login interactively using Remote Desktop. It works from Windows PCs, but not from Microsoft RD Client for Android, where I get the following error message:

  • We couldn't connect to the remote PC because the admin has restricted the type of logon that you may use. Ask you admin or tech support for help. Error code: 0x1307

I can connect from Android only if I remove that policy.

Hello, I am trying to access an EMR system for a new client and have been able to access it from my personal computer and from other computers, but not from my work laptop. I keep getting the error message " You're computer can't connect to the Remote Desktop Gateway server. Please contact your system administrator for assistance." when I try to connect. I have spoken to as many system administrators as I could, have worked with two different IT teams, and no one can seem to figure out what is wrong! If anyone has any ideas of how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

Side note. this all works fine using the legacy reweb and rds client.

When trying to connect using the web client, we get the usual "Oops, we couldnt connect".

When i look in the dev view, I see websocket connection to the gateway failed, 404:

Setting up Remote Desktop Services for my small business

$

Hi Im cracking my head here to implement a remote desktop services in my small business for employees to open up session based desktop connections. On premises of course, all local connections. And i keep seeing this coming up on google suggestions saying that i can buy "Windows Server Remote Desktop Services CAL". Im just looking to operate my business locally without all that fancy features like desktopApp or licensing. I just need to create local users, have Windows load a remote desktop environment for that user to connect to, and voila my employee can use both client computer and host computer on their monitor(s).

Is there a possibility for this without buying any extra licensing feature? I already have a legal copy of Windows Server 2019, i seriously don't think i need to purchase another $500 odd for this bull.

And if this is the case, I also have Windows Server 2016 and does Server 2016 need to purchase this licensing thing?

Cheers

Black Screen on RDP Host After Windows update to 1909

$

When I try to connect using RDP the host screen turns black and remains black after remote client disconnects.  If I then try to reconnect, the remote shows the same black screen as the host.    If I disconnect the remote and retry connection I continue to get black screen unless I delete credentials and manually enter the same password as was previously saved.  The connection is then shows the actual screen.

However, when remote client is disconnected the host remains stuck on black screen and unresponsive to any keyboard input.   Cntl+Alt+Delete does nothing.  The monitor power light is blue which indicates the monitor is not in a sleep mode, but display is hung on black.  The only way I have found to bring it back is to hold the power off button for 10 seconds, then restart.

I have tried:

-reverting back to the Microsoft generic driver by deleting display driver
 -booting in safe mode
-doing a clean boot with all services disabled except Microsoft, Intel and Acer, plus all startup programs except for core essential
-disabling persistent bitmap caching on client machine in RDP experience tab
 -changing colors to 24 bit
-changing Local Policy on host machine [Use WDDM graphics display driver for Remote Desktop Connections] to Disabled.

I have also tried all the suggestions at this link
https://www.kapilarya.com/fix-black-screen-with-remote-desktop-in-windows-10

...except for installing the suggested patch because that patch seems to be for 1903

I had the same problem with an earlier build but there was a patch that fixed it.  But with the latest update, it's back.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Server RDS agruments missing in rdp file

$

Hi everyone,

This is my first post in this website ! :)

I try to deploy an RDS solution with 3 RDS Server (Windows Server 2016) and 1 RDS Broker (Windows Server 2016).

All servers are in VMWARE Environment

My RDS servers have RemoteApp (1 per server) and I have an issue with one.

First I deploy my RemoteApp, no problems, no errors messages.

Next, I connect to my Web RemoteApp Work Ressources and I download the RemoteApp file (.rdp file)

Now Impossible to open it because the application can't find the remote computer. When I edit the rdp file I have some missing arguments :

  • videoplaybackmode:i:1
  • audiocapturemode:i:1
  • gatewayprofileusagemethod:i:1
  • full address:s:MYBROKER.mydomain
  • gatewayhostname:s:mygateway.mydomain

I try to remove my RDS server VM and create new one with the same name, but same problem.

In this example I tried to deploy calc32 in RemoteApp.

When I go in regedit I see that arguments are missing but I don't know why.

If y ou have ideas to repair, Thanks for your future answers!

Sincerely, :)

Hi

After a some test and changes to some GPO i can make the "window" black or white.
The problem roselves if this combination is clicked "<ctrl><alt><ende>"

The problem is similar to this social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/f64d1d8b-b99b-4e22-95be-38da6ed8f33c/remoteapp-rds2019-splash-screens-stuck-on-client?forum=winserverTS.

And i have done as they suggested but no luck.

Is there any fix to this that i might have missed?

RDAC - Remote App dissapearing from taskbar when minimized

Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have seen this behavior or managed to be able to correct it because I can't seem to find a fix. The client computer is running the latest version of Windows and the RDS Servers are at latest patch of Server 2016. The client opens up a remote app and then minimizes it and the remote app disappears from their taskbar.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Virtual IP addresses in Remote Desktop Session Host

$

I am having trouble with 2016 Server configuring IP Virtualisation, running as vm on a Hyper-V host

If I use a DHCP Server I get the following error

"Remote Desktop IP Virtualization could not acquire an IP address for session ID 2.  Error code: 0x800714CA"

(If I time it correct on a Cisco 500 switch I can see the IP address being allocated before it aborted)

If I try and use static iP configured in registry I get the following errors in the log,

Remote Desktop IP Virtualization could not load C:\WINDOWS\system32\TSVIPool.dll. Error code: 0x80070002

An error occurred when the computer tried to start Remote Desktop IP Virtualization: 0x80070002.

I followed the following guides  (links removed)

Deploying Remote Desktop IP Virtualization Step-by-Step Guide

Using Static IP Addresses for Remote Desktop IP Virtualization

I have found this which may describe my issue for the static IP.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2402260/possible-delays-while-assigning-virtual-ip-addresses-in-remote-desktop

However what does it mean when it advises Workaround:ConfigureRDS Session Initial Program (Startup program) to run with a startup script (logon script) and introduce a 1-3 second delay into the execution of any process

What do I have to do to implement the workaround? or is there any other suggestions
