Cannot Save Credentials

Hello all,

We have successfully setup the Remote Desktop Services role on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box. We have pointed each of the eight other servers (running Windows Server 2008 R2) to the IP of the host, since we are not using a domain. All eight other servers can ping the host, and do note that the connectivity is available.

However, each time we close out of the Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration window then immediately go back into the application, we get a message saying that there is one error. When looking further down in the window, we see it the error message shows the correct server IP address, and the Problem is listed as: To identify possible licensing issues, administrator credentials for license server 10.20.40.200 are required. When I click on the Provide Credentials button, it loads the licensing information, and the error goes away.

When we close out of the RDS Host Configuration window then open it back up again, we get the same problem. If we try to click on the checkbox Remember my password, I see a balloon pop up with DOMAIN\administrator or administrator@DOMAIN. I tried to enter in the workgroup, the computer name of both the local machine and RDS host, and the IP of the RDS host, without any luck. Do we need to setup a domain in order for RDS to work?

Thank you!
