RDS2012R2 User Printers Showing Up In All User Sessions

Hi There,

I'm having a rather odd and annoying issues with our client's RDS servers and some printers. Some users printers seem to 'bleed' to all other users sessions.

Printers are all configured on the same print server and are shared out from there. Onsite IT then manually add printers to users sessions as they need them.

However, for some reason some printers are showing up in all user sessions, which is causing Devices and Printers to show 2 and 3 of the same printers installed. I'm logged into the server as my domain admin account and I have no printers installed under my profile (other than XPS/Onenote/cutePDF as these are local printers), yet as you can see from the below screenshot, all the printers highlighted in blue show up, and these show for all users.

When I try to remove these printers one of a few things happens:

    1. Nothing. The printer does not remove and it just stays there.
    2. It disappears for a second and then reappears at the end of the list.
    3. It disappears for a few minutes and then reappears on its own.

Interestingly enough, these printers come and go on their own through out the day and it appears to be related to user logons, but I've been unable to narrow down what users are causing what printers to appear for all users.

Printer redirection is turned off so cannot be the cause.

How is such a thing even possible given that if the printer was installed as an admin, then it would show up all the time and removing it would actually remove the printer and user printers are meant to stick to that users sessions.

And more importantly, how do I resolve this annoying issue as it is confusing users when they have multiple printers to print to of the same type.
