We've had this issue on both 2008 R2 and 2012 servers.
When clients log in via RDP and a program automatically runs (say for instance it is Word) whether they are on a PC or a Mac, if they tick "redirect/forward printers" and open up any box that contains the printers, during log off the application closes but the environment doesn't and they have to press CTRL+ALT+END and choose "log off" to force log off.
Now I know this is printer related as if I end the spooling service manually via task manager for that user, the session then logs off.
We get the following message in the registry:
Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.

However I have no clue how to stop this happening yet. Can anyone advise?
