Smart Card authentication keeps prompting for PIN

After using my card for an hour (or so) I try to initiate a remote desktop connection to any card enabled Windows server but the RDP client keeps prompting me for my PIN and never connects.

If I try to access a card enabled web site it works fine. Even card enabled SSH connections work.

If I reboot my computer the card authentication starts working again and the cycle starts all over after an hour (roughly).

The logs on the server show a successful authentication even though RDP never connects.

I've tested this with different readers and different cards. I've also tested it against card enabled 2008R2 and 2012R2 servers.

I've sent the card ATRs but that doesn't fix it and the card is sitting in a 'verified' state.

The brand of card I'm using is the Gemalto ID PRIME .NET and I have the correct mini drivers. My computer's operating system in Windows 10 ENT.

Not sure if anyone else has seen this but I'd certainly appreciate a point in the right direction.

Thanks!!
